We Love to Create Challenge #15

It's the start of a new challenge over on the We Love to Create Challenge blog
We like to keep things simple over there and the theme is

#15 Anything Goes /Mixed Media Goes

One lucky winner will receive a prize from our generous sponsor Premium Art Brand

With School finishing for the summer I made notebooks for my son's teacher and teaching assistants, here is one I made using Pan Pastels, I hope you feel inspired to play along.

My notebook was constructed by cutting and wrapping chipboard in kraft paper, punching holes in the covers and in the pages that had been cut to size before linking them together with ring,

To decorate I cut white card to fit the front, back and inside panels of the covers. On the front and back panels, I blended three different colours of PanPasel before laying a stencil over the top and applying more colour through that. I did the same to the inside panels but limited myself to just two colours.

After applying some fixative to all the panels, I placed a silhouette stencil onto the front panel and brushed around it with black acrylic paint once the paint was dry I doodled around the girls with a white paint pen before gluing all the panels to the notebook.

We Love to Create Challenge #14- Anything Goes/Mixed Media Goes

Challenge #14 has started over on The We Love to Create Blog. The theme is

One lucky winner will receive a prize from our generous sponsor Premium Art Brands

I have a card to share with you all today on an 8x8 card blank. I started this card by laying down a very thin layer of Brunt Sienna and Yellow Ochre Pan Pastel. After laying a stencil on top I removed the pastel that was visible with a rubber to reveal the pattern.  I then lay a brick stencil over the top and added more Burnt Sienna over the top.

I drew in and painted the tree by mixing Burnt Sienna with some gesso and stamped the birds and flowers onto a sperate sheet of card. Using one of the sofft tools I applied colour to the birds and flowers before cutting them out and glueing them in place.

To finish I stamped the text in the corner and then went around almost everything with a black pen.

New Month New Black and White Theme on The Artistic Stampers Blog

Hellllllllllo July, where is this year going.
There is a new theme on The Artistic Stampers blog today and that theme is Black and White, pop over check out my teamies creations and I hope you will feel inspired and join in. One lucky winner will be chosen to receive a prize.

The card I am sharing today was fairly quick to make using background stamps, calligraphy mats and masks made from scrap paper.

Step by Step

* Work straight onto the card blank. Take precautions to keep the blank as clean as possible. I am a very messy crafter so I placed some kitchen towel underneath the card and taped the card down with masking tape in the hopes nothing would move.
* Use a roll of tape for its circle shape (or anything else that will give you a circle) draw out a basic flower shape on the card.
 * Ink up a calligraphy mat stamp with black archival ink and repeatedly stamp the calligraphy mat down the side of the card.
* Paint the flower shape black.

* Lay the dot mask over the flower segments using scraps of paper of block off the other areas and sponge/ paint the dots with white acrylic paint. I painted mine by hand, it took a bit of time but I did not want the uniform look that sponging would have given me.
* Cut a circle of card to fit the center circle of the flower, Stamp, Stencil and scrape paint onto the circle and glue into place.

* Cut the overhanging part of the circle off, and tidy up the edges of the circles with black and white pens.
* Remove all the tape holding the card in place and if you are like me breathe a sigh of relief as you hopefully have not made to much mess.

Thank you for stopping by and for the time you take to read my posts and comment. It really is appreciated, please pop over to The Artistic Stampers blog and join in the challenge for a chance to win an amazing prize.
